Gadgets You Won’t Believe Exist

Instant Macho Necklaces
If you are not men enough, let Solo Man Bib turn you into one.
The Solo Man Bib is a hilarious ad campaign by Solo, the real man thirst crusher, that invites men to go back to being REAL men. Solo is an Australian carbonated lemon-flavored soft drink manufactured by Cadbury Schweppes. The Solo Man Bib was designed exclusively for the Australian international twenty/20 cricket series.”

Beer Burglar Alarm

The next time you are drinking some beers with your friend and step away for a second, don’t forget to turn on the Beer Burglar Alarm, it will make the “so called friends” don’t finish your beer.

Basically you attach the alarm system to a glass, and since it has a proximity sensor it will make the (sound) alarm go on if anyone tries to drink the beer.

Sleep Safe Tape

If you have family, children, several jobs day and night, you might find following Sleep Safe Tape useful in case you might have fallen asleecolleaguep during your office job hours. It was an amazing design by Sherwood Forlee, the tape is to be sticked to both of your eye lids in order to camouflage your sleeping eyes!
Of course “no one” would notice you have freaky eyes stuck to your face

Popular Myths Busted

1. The six second rule
Having an arbitrary rule justifying the consumption of food dropped on the floor within a certain time frame is convenient, especially when said food is a brownie. Unfortunately, tests (and logic) confirm that germs will stick to most foods right on contact.

2.The Great Wall of China is the only manmade structure visible from space
It is commonly claimed that the Great Wall of China is the only man-made object visible from the Moon. This is false. None of the Apollo astronauts reported seeing any man-made object from the Moon. The misconception is believed to have been popularized by Richard Halliburton decades before the first moon landing

3. Lightning never strikes the same place twice
In fact lightning favors certain spots, particularly high locations. The Empire State Building is struck about 25 times every year. Ben Franklin grasped the concept long ago and mounted a metal rod atop the roof of his home, then ran a wire to the ground, thereby inventing the lightning rod.

4. The inventor of the lightbulb was Thomas  Edison
Calling Thomas Edison the “inventor” of the lightbulb is false. Although instrumental in developing a commercially successful lightbulb, he did not create it. A closer examination takes us to 1809, when Englishman Humphry Davy created an arc lamp. A decade later, Warren De la Rue built the first sealed lightbulb and in 1840, William Robert Grove lit an entire room of lamps. Unfortunately, the products were expensive with questionable durability. Eight scientists and three patents later, Edison expanded on these ideas to create a longer-lasting, cheaper product. The rest is history, but it wasn’t Edison’s to begin with.

5. Humans use only 10 percent of their brains
Fortunately, it’s just not true. MRI imaging clearly demonstrates–with fancy colors no less–that humans put most of their cerebral cortex to good use, even while dozing.

6. Goldfish have a memory of only three
    seconds
The notion that goldfish have a memory of only three seconds is completely false
They have been trained to navigate mazes and can recognize their owners after an exposure of a few months

7. Shaving cause hair to grow back thicker or coarser or darker
Shaving does not cause hair to grow back thicker or coarser or darker. This belief is due to the fact that hair that has never been cut has a tapered end, whereas, after cutting, there is no taper. Thus, it appears thicker, and feels coarser due to the sharper, unworn edges. Hair can also appear darker after it grows back because hair that has never been cut is often lighter due to sun exposure.

8. The Fruit eaten by Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden was an apple

Nowhere in the Bible is the fruit eaten by Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden referred to as an apple. The fruit is called the “fruit of the tree” (that is, the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil), and neither the fruit nor the tree is identified by species. In Middle English, as late as the 17th century “apple” was a generic term for all fruit other than berries but including nuts.

Windows Phone 7

The phone operating system does away with pretty much every scrap of previous mobile efforts from Microsoft, from the look and feel down to the underlying code -- everything is brand new. 7 Series has rebuilt Windows Mobile from the ground up, featuring a completely altered home screen and user interface experience, robust Xbox LIVE and Zune integration, and vastly new and improved social networking tools. Gone is the familiar Start screen, now replaced with "tiles" which scroll vertically and can be customized as quick launches, links to contacts, or self contained widgets. The look of the OS has also been radically upended, mirroring the Zune HD experience closely, replete with that large, iconic text for menus, and content transitions which elegantly (and dimensionally) slide a user into and out of different views. The OS is also heavily focused on social networking, providing integrated contact pages which show status updates from multiple services and allow fast jumps to richer cloud content (such as photo galleries). The Xbox integration will include LIVE games, avatars, and profiles, while the Zune end of things appears to be a carbon copy of the standalone device's features (including FM radio).

Make Your Own 3D Photographs, Glasses

Step 1
3D vision is indeed an amazing thing and capturing content in 3D and then displaying it is something that doesn't fail to amaze. No wonder the shows are houseful whenever there is a 3D movie playing at the theater. While creating a 3D movie takes a bit of expertise, creating 3D photographs is a lot easier. All you need is some amount of photography skill, software to create 3D photographs using the clicked images, and some amount of skill of craftsmanship to make your own 3D glasses to view those photographs. We will show you in this step-by-step guide how you can achieve just that.

A. Click the photograph

This requires a digital camera and basic photography skills. The first thing that you have to do is to search for stationary objects to be photographed. You can even have humans as the subject, but make sure that they do not move for the few seconds that are required to click the photographs.

In order to make a 3D photograph, you need two photographs - one each for left and right eye perspective. This is done so that in the final 3D image, each eye sees what is intended for it, thus tricking the brain into believing that there is in fact one 3D view instead of two 2D photos.

Hold your camera in a horizontal position. Focus and click one photo. Make sure that the subject stays still, while you shift the position of the camera around 6 cm to the right, keeping the subject in focus at the exact same location of the field of view. Click the second photo.
Photo for left eye

Photo for the right eye

By now, you may have understood that the first photo is for the left eye, while the second one is for the right. Preview the images one after another to see if they are not offset too much from each other. This is necessary to create a good 3D photo.

Step 2
Create an anaglyph

Transfer the images for left and right to the PC and rename them appropriately to avoid confusion. Now download the software Anaglyph Maker from www.stereoeye.jp. This is a very small download (less than one MB). Extract the contents of the file to a folder and run AnaMaker.exe .

Click on Load Left Image button to load the left image along with a small preview in the window above the button. Do the same for the right image. Make sure that the images are at least 24-bit color, as this software cannot work with anything less. This is not an issue as the digital camera shoots in this mode.

Once both the images are loaded, make sure that you select Anaglyph Color (Red-Cyan), Anaglyph Red-Green or Anaglyph Red-Blue, depending on the type of anaglyph glasses you will make. You can even choose one of the last two options if you have LC-shutter glasses such as those included with NVIDIA GeForce 3D Vision kit. Click on Make 3D image button to make an anaglyph image. You can adjust the vertical position of the images using the U or D button. Similarly, you can adjust the horizontal position using L and R buttons. You can also adjust the brightness and contrast using the sliders.

The horizontal spacing of images will decide the depth of 3D image in the stereo window. You can actually control it in real time if you are wearing the anaglyph glasses. You must click on Make 3D image for this.

Now save the anaglyph image to your PC in the BMP or JPEG format by clicking on Save 3D image. To view this image, you need anaglyph glasses. We are going to explain how to make anaglyph glasses next.

Step 3
Make your own 3D glasses

This part is completely non-tech and requires you to use a little bit of your craftsmanship skills which have probably been lying dormant since your school years. Here is a list of materials required.

Materials required:

A sheet of card paper
A sheet of red, blue and green gelatin paper each
Pencil
Ruler
Scissors
Clear tape
Gum
Basic pattern for glasses as shown in the stencils.

The papers will cost you under 30 rupees, while the rest of it may be already present at your home. Follow these steps.

I. Print out or draw Stencil 1, 2 and 3 on a paper or directly print on the card paper. Cut out the sample pattern (including eyeholes) for your 3D glasses and tape the sides to the center section. You now have your stencil for the glasses.

II. Trace the stencil on the card paper. Cut the glasses out making sure to also cut out the eyeholes. Use a double layer of card paper, as a single layer may be too thin. Stick the identical layers of card paper to each other and let them dry. If you want, you can draw it directly on the card paper, but the stencil way is better, as it leaves no margin for error.

III. Tape the red (left) and green or blue (right) gelatin paper pieces to cover the eyeholes. Cut the gelatin paper so that it is a little larger than the opening for the eyes. Make sure that you use a double layer of the gelatin paper for each eye as a single layer may be too light. If you want to create Cyan, you can use one layer of green and one layer of blue gelatin paper.

That's it. Now you can create your own 3D photos and view them using your 3D anaglyph glasses.

Fast Shut Down !! (For Xp)

One of the inconveniences that XP brings is it sometimes takes a lifetime before it fully shuts down. You may be wondering why I still post topics on XP, it is because there are still a lot of people that are still using XP on their computers, and I guess some of them are experiencing the eternal shutdown problem on their XP machines. The main reason for this problem is that one or more application is hanging up to 20 seconds while XP tries to shutdown. To resolve this I have here a simple registry tweak to force Windows XP to shut down more quickly. Before you jump into editing your registry it is highly advisable to first create backup of your registry.

step1: The first thing you need to do is to open your registry editor. Click Start –> Go to RUN and type REGEDIT

step2: Navigate to the following keys HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Control Panel \ Desktop
Scroll Down and look for HungAppTimeout and change the default 5000 to 1000 then click OK

step3: Scroll down to WaitToKillAppTimeout and change it’s value from 20000 to 1000 then click OK. Don’t close your registry editor yet, we have still more values to change.

step4: Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ System \ CurrentControlSet \ Control and double click on WaitToKillServiceTimeout then change it’s value to 1000 then click OK.

step5: Now, navigate to HKEY_USERS \ DEFAULT \ Control Panel \ Desktop and change HungAppTimeout value to 1000 and click OK.

step6: Scroll down to WaitToKillAppTimeout change it to 1000 and click OK.

Your done, your XP will now shutdown much more quicker.

You can put any values that you prefer but you must make sure all values are uniform on all the settings.
